Four ways to mark a region
Every region stays editable until you download: select it with the move tool to drag it, resize rectangles and ellipses from their corner handle, or switch a region off to compare.
- Rectangle — number plates, signs, screens.
- Ellipse — faces, round logos.
- Brush — paint along a fence, a tattoo, a reflection. Brush size is adjustable.
- Lasso — trace any outline; it closes itself when you let go.
Selling or renting something online
Listing photos often show a vehicle number plate, a flat number or documents on a desk. Hide them before posting. Use square pixels for plates and a solid bar for anything with readable characters.
Questions
How do I pixelate just one area?
Drag a rectangle over it. The pixelation appears immediately; use the block size slider to make it coarser. Add as many regions as you need.
Can I move a region after drawing it?
Yes. Pick the move tool (V), click the region, and drag. Rectangles and ellipses also have a resize handle at the bottom-right corner.
Is pixelating a number plate enough?
Large blocks on a plate are effective. Small blocks over characters can sometimes be guessed back, so safety mode keeps at least a minimum block size; for maximum certainty use the solid bar style.
Can I undo?
Yes. Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) undoes the last region change and Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes it; the undo buttons in the tool rail do the same.
